Classic Tiramisu: Authentic Italian Recipe

Classic Tiramisu…
Tiramisu is one of the most well-known Italian desserts worldwide, enjoyed at the end of a meal. It’s incredibly simple to prepare at home. Making the perfect tiramisu isn’t as complicated as one might think. You only need a few ingredients: fresh eggs, mascarpone, and sugar (in some cases, Marsala wine or other liquors like rum) for the cream, and ladyfingers and coffee to complete it.

Ingredients:

For the Cream

For Assembly:

  • 10.6 oz (300g) ladyfingers
  • 6.8 fl oz (200ml) unsweetened coffee (made with a moka pot)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, to taste
  • Dark chocolate, to taste

How to make Classic Tiramisu:

  1. Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Beat the whites until stiff peaks form (ensure the bowl and beaters are clean, or they won’t whip properly).
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with the powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the mascarpone to the yolk mixture and mix at low speed until well combined (add Marsala wine or other liquor if desired).
  4. The cream should be firm and compact.
  5. Gently fold in the whipped egg whites using a spatula, incorporating from top to bottom.
  6. The cream will become slightly fluffier but still compact.
  7. Prepare coffee using a moka pot (better if cold or lukewarm) and dip the ladyfingers into it.
  8. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of the dish.
  9. Add a layer of cream.
  10. Create another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers.
  11. Add another layer of cream on top.
  12. Sprinkle chopped dark chocolate over the top layer.
  13. Dust with unsweetened cocoa powder and refrigerate the tiramisu for 2 hours.

Once ready, serve and enjoy!
