Often clothes lose their bright and charged color due to too frequent washing, dust and the constant passage of water to which they are exposed. Unfortunately, even if general precautions are taken, such as washing them inside out or trying not to get them dirty so they are not constantly put in the washing machine, they can still lose their pigment. Are there any workarounds to make sure they come back super charged with color as if they were new? Of course, there are! Let’s find out how you can take the color out of clothes with just 3 bay leaves!

Ingredients

Let’s see right now what ingredients are needed to start this awesome trick!

  • Waterfall
  • 10 bay leaves
  • 4 heaped tablespoons of baking soda

That’s all you need to have the perfect spruced up clothes again! Bay leaf is indeed an old grandmother’s remedy! In the past, people devoted themselves exclusively to natural remedies and do-it-yourself. Over time, it seems to have been discovered that laurel has properties that can revive the colors of fibers, especially when combined with ingredients like baking soda!

Method:

Well, at this point you need to proceed with the procedure! Put the bay leaves and the baking soda in a pot and fill it with water, then turn on the heat and bring it to a boil. Once it boils, reduce the heat slightly and let it boil for another 20 minutes, the time in which the baking soda dissolves well, and the bay leaves develop all their properties. Let the mixture cool a little after the specified time and then pour it into a bowl, being careful not to burn yourself. Then put the clothes in the mixture and leave them like that for 24 hours, then rinse them and wash them in the washing machine or by hand. You will see that your clothes will be charged like never before!

Alternative methods

Besides laurel, there are also alternative methods that you should prefer if you do not have laurel at home. Let’s find out some of them together!

  • Salt

When used in the washing machine, salt can be a great resource, and I assure you that it is one of the most suitable ingredients to revive the colors of the clothes! All you need to do to use the remedy is to dissolve half a cup of salt in water and soak the items for about a whole day. Then you need to rinse them and proceed with washing them in the washing machine!

  • Apple cider vinegar

The vinegar that we like to use for different situations in the washing machine is also ideal for faded clothes!  All you need to do to use the remedy is to dissolve half a cup of salt in water and soak the items for about a whole day. Then you need to rinse them and proceed with washing them in the washing machine! In this case, apple cider vinegar is best for refreshing colors, as it is darker and can charge the fibers. All you need to do is soak the affected cloths with water and 1 cup full of apple cider vinegar.

  • Delicate

Did you expect that black tea is an element that could come in handy anytime you need to breathe new life into the colors of the clothes? In this case, it is also a very old trick and still widely used today! All you need to do is to put a black tea bag in a cup of boiling water and let the whole mixture spread for a few minutes. Then pour the cup into the basin of water along with a cup of apple cider vinegar to enhance the effect. Let the clothes soak in the basin for several hours and then wash them in the washing machine!

Warnings

To avoid damaging the cloths, I recommend that you always follow the washing instructions on the labels.
