The oven door often collects traces of splashes and food residues, which also settle on the grates and the inner walls of the oven. Consisting of double glazing, it can block a lot of dirt inside. Here’s a simple trick to clean it thoroughly. Cleaning the oven is one of the most difficult household tasks. And when it comes to cleaning the glass door, it can get even more complicated. The space between the two panes of the door may contain dust and traces of oil and grease. Therefore, sometimes it is necessary to disassemble them to restore them to their former glory.

How to clean the double glass of the oven without disassembling it?

There is a quick and effortless way to clean the oven door. All you need to do is equip yourself with tools that allow you to reach the inside surfaces of the windows. Here’s how.

Choose the double glass cleaning tool for the oven

Before you start cleaning, you should check the model of the oven door. Usually, models that do not disassemble have a wide slot that allows easy access to the space between the two panes. Once you have identified it, choose your tool considering the width of the slot. You can use a sturdy wooden stick, a spatula, a flat ladle, or even a metal coat hanger. After you have made your choice, you need to wrap the tool with a microfiber cloth. Then secure it with one or more rubber bands.

Clean the inside of the oven door with a homemade product

Once you have prepared your tool, it is time to prepare a special cleaning solution. For this purpose, it is advisable to prefer 100% natural and accessible products. Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • 2 to 5 spoons of citric acid
  • 1 quart of lukewarm water
  • 1 glass of lemon juice

After you have completely diluted the citric acid in a container filled with water, add the lemon juice. Put the mixture in a spray bottle. Spray a sufficient amount onto the cloth attached to the cleaning tool.  Then insert the item through the slot in the glass and highlight the dirty areas. Then rinse the double pane with a damp cloth and let it dry. Note that lemon is an excellent disinfectant that can also eliminate bad odors from the oven.

Other natural remedies for cleaning the double glazing of the oven

Newer models of ovens make it easy to lift the panes off their hinges and lay them flat on the floor. The oldest ones have a metal frame that must be unscrewed to remove the windows.  If you can do it on your own, you only need to apply these natural ingredients while cleaning.

  • Apply a mixture of baking soda and coarse salt on the stove windows

This first tip will help you remove stubborn stains from oven windows. Simply fill a bowl half with coarse salt and half with baking soda.  Add a little lukewarm water and mix until you get a thick paste. Then, use a sponge to apply the remedy to the exterior and interior parts of the door. Leave on for about an hour before rinsing off with a damp microfiber cloth. For flawless results, wipe the glass surfaces again with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Use vinegar to remove burnt stains from stove glass

Vinegar is a great ally when it comes to cleaning. The latter is especially effective at removing dirt from stove glasses. Mix an equal amount of hot water and vinegar, then pour the mixture into a spray bottle.  Then spray all glass surfaces and let it sit for a few minutes. Then wipe with a clean microfiber cloth to remove dirt and burn marks.  This process can be repeated until you get a clean and shiny surface.

Thorough cleaning of oven windows is necessary to maintain the good performance of your appliance. To avoid stubborn stains, it is also advisable to clean the glass after each cooking.
