The use of baking soda is now part of daily habits in the home to carry out various household chores. We are talking, in fact, about an ingredient that encompasses several properties, each one indicated for every corner of the environment! Today we are going to look at its application for blackened joints and tiles so that they become clean and super shiny again.

For grout joints

When tile joints start to get particularly dirty, it means that dust has found its favorite place to settle. Action should be taken right away to prevent dirt from accumulating day after day to the point where it becomes really complicated to remove. In this regard, baking soda comes to our rescue, just make a cleaning paste with the help of hydrogen peroxide to have the joints as good as new!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • ½ tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide

You will need to put the baking soda in a small bowl and mix it with the hydrogen peroxide flush so that the mixture is thick and smooth. The consistency you will need to achieve is similar to that of a gel, so add one or the other ingredient as needed. Proceed by dipping a soft-bristled brush into the mixture and scrub along all the tiles, remembering not to apply too much pressure and not to go too hard on the tiles because you risk staining them.

Warning:

If you have marble or natural stone floors, you will have to use regular water and not hydrogen peroxide. Well, at this point leave it on for several minutes and then rinse: the joints will be as good as new again!

Perfect tiles

As mentioned before, in addition to grout joints, baking soda is also a very suitable solution for getting perfect tiles! When they are dull, when they have stubborn stains, or for older floors that need to be reinvigorated, all you have to do is rely on this fantastic ingredient. All you need to do is fill a bucket with warm water and dip 1 tablespoon of baking soda inside. If you do not want to give up a nice scent, add 3 drops of essential oil of your choice. You will see that the floor will be perfect!

Alternatively

As an alternative to the method we have just seen, there is another very interesting one that combines the cleaning action of baking soda with the degreasing action and scent of bar soap. If you prepare this mixture, you will get a natural cleaner that is perfect for more difficult floors such as marble or wood floors. Let’s find out all the steps together now!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of bar soap
  • 2 cups of water

If you have solid soap, you will need to melt the required amount in a water bath, then gradually add the baking soda and you will see that the mixture will be frothy. Put the water in a bowl and pour in the mixture of baking soda and soap, stir until it all comes together. At this point decant into a bottle convenient for you and shake before use, you will need to put about half a cup in the bucket. Your floor will be shiny and super clean again!
