In no other season do we use deodorant more often than in summer. We reveal three tricks to make your deodorant last even better. When summer temperatures are high, deodorant is often the only thing that helps to prevent the smell of sweat. But sometimes it gets so hot that even deodorant no longer helps.

What does sweat smell like?

Sweat is actually odorless. The odor, which many people find unpleasant, only develops when the sweat is broken down by bacteria on the skin. Deodorants usually contain perfumes or fragrance oils, which can be used to mask the smell of sweat, as well as antimicrobial agents that reduce the bacteria that cause the smell of sweat. However, a deodorant cannot block the production of sweat this only works with an antiperspirant.

Your deodorant will last better in the summer with these three tips

If your deodorant hardly works at all, or only works for far too short a time, the following tricks can help you:

TIP 1: PLEASE DRY OFF!

If possible, apply your deodorant to dry skin. If your skin is wet, the ingredients of the deodorant can be absorbed relatively poorly. If you want to apply deodorant after showering, you should dry yourself thoroughly beforehand.

TIP 2: LEAVE ENOUGH DISTANCE!

When spraying, leave a distance of about 6 inches between the affected skin area and your deodorant. If you apply your deodorant too close or too far away, the active ingredients cannot be optimally distributed on the skin area.

TIP 3: APPLY AT THE RIGHT TIME!

Contrary to many assumptions, you should not apply your deodorant in the morning, but rather the evening before.
