Oven cleaning is that thing we would all like to avoid without hesitation! In fact, this household appliance is particularly laborious to put to new use because it involves our manual intervention, unlike washing machines and dishwashers, for example, which mainly require vacuum washing. However, it is important to monitor dirt in the oven because it could then affect the proper functioning of the appliance. Today we will see together how to prepare a natural degreaser to say goodbye to all the encrustations!

Ingredients :

The first thing to do is to get the ingredients needed to make our fantastic degreaser. Don’t worry, these are all items you are sure to have around the house or can easily find! Well, in detail you will need:

  • 1/3 lb. of citric acid
  • 1 quart of water
  • 1 cup of lemon juice
  • Essential oils

This is all you will need. Citric acid is one of the most ideal solutions for saying goodbye to scaling, which is why it is becoming increasingly popular in homes. Lemon juice, on the other hand, will reinforce the degreasing action of citric acid and impart a fantastic scent in the appliance! Essential oils are optional, in any case I suggest you prefer lemon or citrus oils.

Procedure :

Let’s go straight to the procedure without hesitation! The first thing you need to do is to dissolve the citric acid in the water until you get a single solution. Then filter the lemon juice very well by removing the seeds and pulp, add it to the citric acid and water mixture. If you have chosen to use essential oils as well, go ahead and pour them over the other ingredients and mix again, then transfer everything into a spray bottle. That’s it, your degreaser is ready!

How to use the degreaser

All that’s left to do at this point is to see how to use this fantastic natural product that can be prepared in no time! First of all, open the oven door and spray a good amount of degreaser all over the inside walls, especially on the crusting. Next you will need to close the door and turn on the oven at 180° for about 5 minutes going to spray the mixture from time to time. When the oven is hot, turn it off and let it cool, meanwhile wearing gloves so you don’t burn and get dirty. Take a sponge and degrease the oven, which will now have the dirt softened by the heat, and you will see that cleaning it will be a breeze!

Natural degreaser is a really immediate and effective method for the oven, but let’s take a look together at other cleaning methods so you can always keep them on hand for less. Here are the most popular ones below:

  • Baking soda: make a thick paste with baking soda and water flush, spread it with a sponge on the dirt, let the oven heat up, then turn it off and proceed with the washing.
  • Vinegar and lemon juice: a perfect combination to say goodbye to tough fouling. Fill a steamer with 3 parts vinegar and 1 part lemon, add 1 cup of water, and use the mixture to spruce up the oven.
  • Yellow soap: spread 1 ball of product on a sponge that is not too abrasive and add baking soda on top. Degrease the walls of the oven and you will immediately notice that it will be super clean! Rinse well to remove soap residue.

Warnings :

Try the methods given above on unseen corners to make sure you don’t stain the oven.
