Problems with dry plants? Don’t worry, here is an ingredient that will help you recover them and make them lush again. Even with the best care, some of our plants often tend to become dry. Although a plant’s dryness is usually associated with a lack of moisture, sometimes it’s actually a fungus that has infested our plants and is stealing their food, mainly moisture. So, here is what to do to avoid throwing away plants that can be easily treated.

Dried plants, the means to make them strong again

No matter how dedicated you are to gardening, the problem of dry plants may not depend on your green thumb. The dryness of a plant indicates a lack of moisture, but if you think you have watered it enough, the problem could be in the roots.

In fact, very often dry plants are not able to absorb the right amount of moisture if they have been attacked by fungi that steal their liquid food and do not allow the plant to benefit from it. Sometimes the fungi manifest themselves clearly on the surface in the form of small molds, sometimes they hide in the roots. All you need to do is arm yourself with gloves, patience and a special ingredient: cinnamon.

If you decide to intervene on a plant, first remove all yellow leaves from the attachment and avoid moisturizing them for a few days, so as not to feed the fungus further. Then sprinkle the soil surface with cinnamon powder.

Then continue after a few days by removing the plant from its pot and carefully remove the soil. If the soil is too dry, help yourself by moistening the roots under running water, but always be careful not to wet the stem. During this process, check for rotten roots and, if present, eliminate them by cutting them with scissors at the junction with the healthy part of the plant. Avoid cutting too much, as the plant would suffer by cutting live roots and would have to expend more energy to recover. Once the plant has been properly cleaned, it is time to intervene with cinnamon for a cleansing treatment.

How to use cinnamon to get rid of fungi

What you need to do is a real bath on the roots of your plant. Boil a quart of water and when it boils, pour it into a container with a spoonful of cinnamon and mix well. Let the mixture sit until it cools, and then proceed with the dipping. Be careful to immerse only the roots of the plant in the mixture of water and cinnamon and keep the stem dry. Find a comfortable way to keep the soaked plant still for at least 30 minutes, you can help yourself with wooden sticks or aluminum balls that you use as a “weight”. After 30 minutes, remove the plant from the container of water and cinnamon and repot. Be gentle and use the type of potting soil recommended for the plant in question.

Thanks to the help of cinnamon, known as an antiseptic, you have eliminated the fungus or fungi on your plant, which, even if reduced to the bone, with proper care and the right doses of water and sun will be ready in a short time to sprout again and return as lush as it once was.
