How to degrease plastic containers: no more halos, in a snap!

Plastic food containers are super convenient, how can you deny it: easy to carry, they hold food well, and they clean up quickly. But they have a bad habit of mottling with unpleasant yellow-orange halos

How to restore them to their pristine primal transparency?

Don’t worry, that’s what we explain below in a few lines.

How to degrease plastic containers: no more halos, in a snap!

Meanwhile, it must be said that the ugly orange-colored halos mentioned at the beginning are due the fact that oil and other fatty substances that we often and willingly happen to add to our food have the ability to pent up in the porosity of plastic and remain there stubbornly.

But getting them back to their original glory is not an impossible task, far from it. There is no need to scrub until your arm hurts, especially since often, if we use abrasive scouring pads, doing so risks ruining the surfaces, no matter how plastic they are.

No, the recipe is simpler and does not require muscular tour de force.

Here it is. Fill plastic containers with a finger of water, then add a tablespoon of baking soda and leave this very simple solution to work for a day and a night, remembering only to shake it from time to time.

The next morning all you will have to do is rinse well under the kitchen faucet and you will see that not the slightest trace will be left of the halos.

If you wish, and if you prefer, you can also replace the baking soda with white wine vinegar.

Know, however, that whatever solution (in the literal sense) you wish to adopt, doing so will ensure long life for your plastic containers, which will remain nice and clean and degreased ready to welcome your next culinary exploit.
