Accumulation of moisture, poor ventilation, infiltration problems … Many factors can lead to the appearance of mold on the walls. They make them ugly, but also cause dangerous health problems. Then it is necessary to eliminate them and for this we offer you an ecological and economical trick to defeat these microscopic fungi. A thorough cleaning of your home cannot be complete without fighting mold and preventing its occurrence. Here is a natural remedy to get rid of it.

How do you fight mold in your home? The natural remedy with two ingredients

It’s true that there are many mold removers available in stores that work very well, but many of them contain chemicals and toxic substances. Opt for an eco-friendly cleaner and use only natural ingredients that you probably already have at home.

  • White vinegar and baking soda to remove mold stains

Since white vinegar contains acetic acid, which gives it its descaling, stain-removing and disinfecting properties, and baking soda absorbs moisture, which allows mold to grow, the combination of these two ingredients helps to solve this problem very effectively. What you need:

  • 7 ounces of baking soda
  • 3 oz water
  • 5 oz of concentrated white vinegar at 57 degrees.

Here’s how you proceed:

The first step is to prepare a kind of paste by mixing baking soda with some water and pouring the vinegar into a spray bottle. Then apply the paste directly to the areas affected by traces of mold (walls, ceilings, joints, etc.). Allow to act for 1 hour before spraying the white vinegar on the entire surface to be treated. This creates a chemical reaction in the form of foam, which makes it possible to easily remove and eliminate traces of mold. Leave on for about ten minutes before rubbing the stains with a sponge. Rinse with tap water or vinegar diluted with water.

Other remedies against traces of mold and mildew

Like vinegar and baking soda, there are other methods that are very effective against mold stains.

  • Hydrogen peroxide to treat mold

Add a 3% concentration of hydrogen peroxide to a spray bottle, then spray the areas to be treated and leave for ten minutes. Then scrub with a brush to remove mold stains, then wipe with a damp cloth. If the mold stains do not disappear, repeat the process again. This antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal solution, found in most medicine cabinets, can effectively treat mold. In fact, hydrogen peroxide can be safely applied to a variety of surfaces, including kitchen countertops, bathrooms and bathtubs.

  • Lemon juice for mold stains

Extract the juice of 3 to 5 lemons in a cup and spray it directly on the area to be treated. Leave on for 5 minutes, then wipe the surface with a damp cloth. If the mold doesn’t disappear, you can apply the product a second time and then scrub with a toothbrush. Once the stains are gone, simply rinse thoroughly with clean water. Lemon is an excellent natural disinfectant and sanitizer.  Its high concentration of citric acid helps break down mold and eliminate it more easily.

Removing and destroying mold in your home should be your top priority. Thanks to these very economical means, you can finally get rid of them and preserve your health.
