Tight shoes: how to make them bigger to avoid foot pain?…

Even if the new shoes sold in the store look comfortable, it’s important to remember that they’re made in a mold, not custom-made. So it’s not surprising that when we get home, without the help of the sales assistant, we sometimes have trouble putting them on. Especially if they’re made of leather, a material that needs time to soften and adapt to our feet. Fortunately, there are a few tricks we can use to solve the problem.

Is your new pair too tight and you’re even thinking of returning them to the store? Don’t rush! There are always solutions to try and widen your shoes and adapt them perfectly to the shape of your feet. We’re even revealing a totally unusual, yet simple and inexpensive trick that will make it easier for you to wear your new shoes.

How to enlarge your new shoes with corn?

For your comfort and well-being, we’ve come up with a surprising solution for widening your new shoes. Few of you know the corn tip: once you’ve tried it, you’ll quickly adopt it. Follow this step-by-step method and be surprised by the results.

What does corn have to do with shoes? Thanks to its properties, your shoes can relax and gain in volume. In this way, they can quickly adapt to your feet’s movements. And there’s no hurry – you can apply this solution several days in a row, until your shoes feel perfectly comfortable.

The great advantage of this remedy: corn does absolutely no damage to the material of your shoes. It’s also ideal for a wide variety of models, from sandals to sneakers. What’s more, it’s a very economical solution, accessible to all.

N.B.: Don’t worry, corn won’t make your shoes so big that they take up an extra size. It simply helps to loosen and soften them so that they can be worn easily and fit your feet perfectly.
How to use this tip

First, prepare the following ingredients:

  • One plastic bag
  • Water
  • Dried corn kernels

Buy enough corn kernels, which you can easily find on the market. Pour water into a large container and add a sufficient quantity of corn. Leave for a while.

Then put the hydrated corn into the plastic bag and add a little water. Close the bag tightly to prevent it from opening. Finally, place it directly into the shoe you wish to widen. Leave overnight. In this way, the corn will increase the size of the shoe. You’ll notice a difference the very next day. If the shoe is still a little narrow, you can of course repeat this process for a few days.

5 other ways to enlarge shoes

1. Wear them at home

If your new shoes are uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to wear them and walk around the house in them so they get used to your feet. If you pace yourself for a few days, you’ll be able to stretch them out more quickly. But for your own comfort, let your feet rest for a while before trying this method. To avoid soiling your stylish new pair, you should of course only walk on carpets or surfaces.

2. with socks and a hair dryer

If the previous method isn’t very conclusive, you can always resort to this clever solution. It gives you more elasticity and helps your shoes to shape your feet better. How to proceed? Put on a pair of thick socks and slip your feet into your still-tight shoes. Use the hairdryer for 20-30 seconds: aim it at the tight areas. The hot air will facilitate enlargement. Keep trying until you get the best result!

Caution: use lukewarm heat only, and keep the appliance moving so as not to dry out or burn the shoe leather.

3. the peeled potato trick

This is another unusual technique that has proved its worth. Peel two potatoes, wrap them in kitchen paper and insert each one into the front of a shoe. Leave them overnight. The next day, the stretch will already be more noticeable.

4. leave your shoes in the freezer

After heat, cold is also very promising. Many people are unfamiliar with this method, but it offers excellent results. Take two freezer bags and fill them halfway with water. Seal them tightly before placing them in each shoe. Then place them in the freezer and leave them overnight. The packet of water will freeze and gain in volume, giving the shoe greater amplitude.

5. use wet newspaper

Finally, this last tip relies on humidity, which tends to soften too-stiff material more quickly. To enlarge shoes that are too small, use a newspaper lightly moistened with spray. Crumple it into a ball and slide it into the shoe on the toe side. Keep it there overnight. As it dries, the newspaper will loosen the material a little.

Note: make sure your shoes can’t be damaged by moisture. If so, neither this method nor the freezing method is suitable.
